What you’ll do 

As Legal Advisor you will be part of our Legal & Compliance team, and will provide expert legal support across commercial contracts, procurement, and regulatory compliance to ensure the organization operates within Belgian law and the broader financial regulatory framework.

This role safeguards the organization’s legal integrity while enabling business growth through pragmatic, risk-aware legal advice. 

Your tasks will include: 

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, purchase orders, and service agreements.

• Ensure legal robustness and alignment with internal policies and financial regulations.

• Support procurement and vendor management processes from a legal perspective.

• Monitor and interpret changes in Belgian and EU financial legislation (e.g., PSD2, AML, GDPR).

• Translate regulatory developments into actionable internal policies and procedures.

• Collaborate with Compliance and Risk teams to ensure alignment and implementation.

• Ensure proper corporate governance by drafting and maintaining charters for the Board & it’s Committees.

• Advise on corporate housekeeping matters (annual shareholders meetings, formal appointments, decisions of the board, …) to ensure legal compliance, proper documentation, and procedural integrity for the company’s statutory record-keeping.

• Identify and mitigate legal risks across business operations.

• Support internal investigations and dispute resolution processes.

• Maintain legal documentation and contribute to internal audits or regulatory reviews.

• Advise internal stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Product, IT, HR) on legal matters related to commercial strategy, partnerships, and product development.

• Provide proactive legal input on new initiatives, ensuring early-stage compliance and risk mitigation.

• Contribute to the development of internal legal frameworks and governance models.

• Stay current with legal trends and jurisprudence relevant to the financial sector.

• Deliver internal training and awareness sessions on legal and regulatory topics.

• Maintain legal templates and knowledge bases to support operational efficiency.

• Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and internal risk frameworks by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks in alignment with regulatory expectations and company policies.

What makes you a great fit 

This role is ideal for someone who has a business-oriented mindset and the ability to balance legal risk and commercial opportunity.

You’ll thrive in this role if you: 

• have a Master’s degree in law (Belgian bar qualification is a plus).

• have approx. 5 years of experience in commercial and/or financial law, ideally in a regulated environment (e.g., banking, fintech, insurance).

• have a strong understanding of Belgian and EU financial regulations (e.g., PSD2, AML, GDPR).

• are experienced in drafting and negotiating B2B contracts and managing legal risk in cross-functional settings.

• have familiarity with digital services, data protection, and financial product structuring.

• are strong in conceptual and analytical thinking; able to translate complex legal frameworks into practical advice.

• have a business-oriented mindset with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial opportunity.

• posses excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• are proactive, reliable, and solution driven.

• can handle sensitive matters with high integrity and discretion.

• are adaptable and collaborative in cross-functional environments.

• Fluent in English AND Dutch or French.
